Regular tasks and value records
The two types of tasks: the classic checkbox and the numeric record with unit and range (temperatures, levels, counts).
Updated on
In Timlup, each checklist can combine two task types: the normal task, which is resolved with a click, and the task log, which requires entering a number. Here’s how they differ and how to get the most out of them.
Normal task (checkbox)
The normal task is the classic checkbox. The employee sees it in the employee portal and checks it off once it’s done. It’s ideal for inspections, cleanings, or openings.
Once checked, the task is complete; when all tasks on the checklist are done, the employee submits it and the manager sees it in their dashboard.
Task log: unit, minimum, and maximum
A task log asks the employee for a number: a temperature, a level, a count. When creating the task log, you configure its unit (ºC, kg, units…) and, optionally, a minimum and a maximum value.
If the recorded value falls outside the range, the employee gets an alert right away. That alert is also visible to the manager, highlighted in their dashboard: the task log is flagged for review. Today’s recorded values, along with any range alerts, appear in the dashboard Summary.
Also, if the task doesn’t apply on a given day, the employee can use the exceptions “Not applicable” and “Can’t do”. These exceptions still count toward submitting the checklist and are logged as exceptions, so nothing goes untracked.
Priority tasks and ordering
You can reorder tasks on a checklist by dragging them. This way, you can put the most urgent items first or those tied to a specific time slot.
You can also mark tasks as priority so they stand out in the employee portal. At a glance, the team knows where to start.
Photo evidence
Any task, whether a normal task or a task log, can include an attached photo. The employee can upload it as evidence from the employee portal.
That photo stays linked to the task, and the manager can view it later in the dashboard Summary. It’s a great way to document an issue, a condition, or a completed repair.
Frequently asked questions
What is a task log?
It’s a task that asks the employee for a number, such as a temperature or a count. It’s configured with a unit and, if you want, optional minimum and maximum values.
How do I get alerted if a temperature is out of range?
The task log itself alerts the employee the moment the recorded value falls outside the minimum or maximum. The manager also sees that entry flagged in their dashboard, and it appears in the Summary.
Can I mark tasks as priority?
Yes. Tasks can be marked as priority so they stand out in the employee portal. You can also reorder them by dragging to set the order of the checklist.
Can I request a photo on a task?
Yes. Any task can include an attached photo. The employee can upload it as evidence from the employee portal. The photo stays linked to the task, and the manager can view it later in the dashboard Summary.
