Import and export tasks in CSV

Populate a checklist with dozens of tasks at once from a CSV, and export the tasks from a checklist to a file.

Updated on

Importing and exporting tasks in CSV lets you fill a checklist with dozens of tasks at once or take a checklist’s tasks to a file. If you work with Excel or Google Sheets, you can prepare your tasks there and upload them in seconds. Here’s everything you need to know.

What CSV import does

CSV import adds a file’s tasks to an existing checklist. It doesn’t replace the tasks you already have: the new ones are added to the current ones.

To import, open the checklist editing screen and look for the import CSV button. When you click it, you select the file and the tasks are added automatically. Each task keeps its title and type. If the task is a record log (a task with a numeric value), the file must also include its unit and its range.

The file format

The CSV must contain the tasks you want to import. Each row of the file becomes a task in the checklist. The columns the import recognizes are:

  • Task title.
  • Task type: normal or record log.
  • For record logs: unit and value range.

If you prepare the file in Excel or Google Sheets, you just save it as CSV and you’re done. The import will read the data and add the tasks to the checklist.

Exporting tasks

Exporting is just as simple. On the same checklist editing screen, press the export CSV button. The system generates a file with all the tasks in that checklist and you download it instantly.

You can open that file with Excel, Google Sheets, or any program that reads CSV.

Note that Reports and Metrics export their own CSVs with the checklists’ results. That’s independent of this screen: here you export the tasks, not the results.

Availability by plan

CSV import and export is a paid-plan feature, from the Esencial (Essential) plan onward. If your account is on the Gratis (Free) plan, you’ll see the buttons with a padlock and won’t be able to use them.

If you need this feature, you’ll have to switch to a paid plan. In the panel you can check the available options in Facturación (Billing).
