Creating your first location

How to set up a location or workplace: name, time zone, opening hours, GPS point, and the QR link for the tablet.

Updated on

To use Timlup in your business, the first thing is to create your first location. It’s a quick process: you only need the name and, if you want, the address. Here’s how to do it and what you can configure afterwards.

Creating the location

Go to Locales → Nuevo local (Locations → New location). A form will open with two fields:

  • Nombre (Name): required. Give it a name you’ll recognize easily, for example “Bar Central”.
  • Dirección (Address): optional. You can leave it empty and fill it in later.

The timezone is detected automatically, based on the browser’s. You don’t have to choose it in this step.

Save the location and it will be created. From there, you can enter its detail to configure schedules, time slots, and more.

The timezone

The location’s timezone governs everything. The day’s checklists are generated at midnight in each location’s time.

If you have several locations in different timezones, each one follows its own. They don’t mix.

Location schedules

In the location detail (Locales → clic en el local (Locations → click on the location)) you can configure:

  • Horario de atención (Business hours): when the location opens and closes.
  • Horario laboral semanal (Weekly work schedule): supports split segments, for example 8:00 to 12:00 and 16:00 to 20:00.
  • Franjas horarias (time slots), áreas de trabajo (work areas), and etiquetas (tags).

An important detail: days marked as closed in the weekly schedule do not generate simple daily or weekly checklists that day. If you don’t work a day, you won’t receive pending checklists.

The location’s GPS point

The GPS point lets the system know where the location is. To set it:

  1. Enter the location detail.
  2. Press the «Marcar con mi GPS» (Mark with my GPS) button.
  3. Do it while physically at the site.

This point only stores the location’s position, never the employees’.

If you enable location verification on a checklist, the system checks that the employee is within less than 250 meters of the location’s point. It only records whether they were inside or outside. It never stores coordinates.

In the location detail you’ll also find the employee portal link, with its QR code. It looks something like this: /worker?loc=….

It’s meant to be left open on the location’s tablet. That way employees can access the portal without typing anything: they just open the camera, scan the QR, and done.
